Lightning Bugs

http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/bugs/firefly/

In late June and early July, Lightning Bugs emerge in this region of the United States.  We also call them Fireflies.  They light up and fly around as it gets dark.  We have a fun family night during this time - called Glowbugs and Glowsticks -  to celebrate these insects, or at least we try!  During the past week, we have had severe weather in the evenings with much rain, lightning, and thunder.  We have canceled our special night THREE times, and are hoping to reschedule before the lightning bugs disappear!  We are still in this weather pattern for a few more nights (record breaking rainfall).  There are over 2,000 species of these in the world.  Have you seen these in Jesus de Maria?
